ABOUT DROWNED IN SOUND
In 2003 DrownedinSound.com established itself at the forefront of the mainstream-alternative music press movement, predicting the rise of The Darkness, Franz Ferdinand, Funeral for a Friend, Razorlight and more recently Bloc Party, before the bands were even signed. With up-to-the minute news, opinionated reviews and a wealth of resources, over 20,000 readers have found DiS' corner of the web and logging in every week.

In just three years, the site, formed by a group of teenagers, has anchored itself firmly around the 'by music fans, for music fans' ethic and developed into one of the most respected music sites on the web, picking up plaudits from the likes of Rolling Stone and near-on weekly plugs from Steve Lamacq. The site is also a regular haunt for the music industry in search for a tip-off on the next big things and researchers

Sean Adams, 22, Editors Comment: "In an age where too few people are willing to take risks, believe in themselves, and follow their dreams, Drowned in Sound is proof that the internet can liberate music fans - in much the same way the photocopier did for fanzines and that websites don't have to be all about corporate jizz and then subsequently become dot-gones."

Drowned in Sound is also available bi-annually in print and runs regular showcase nights, as well as a record label, with several releases, including three compilations due in 2004.
