Public (Private) Schools are a load of old Crap by Ben Chandler

I never thought I'd ever worry about being at public school in a sociological way. But when you're 17- you start to smell a rat. A lot of people who go to public school are snobs. All my old best friends now seem like elitist tossers. The point I'm getting at is WHY do public schools still exist. Yes, when I was 13 and all worried about not getting 'discarded' or something like that, but now, having looking back over my shoulder, it just hasn't really had a positive influence. In 1997, Blair promised to improve education for all- and to increase on public schools- hopefully with the aim of eventually putting them into submission. But still the inbalance remains between the priveliged and under-priveliged. And this causes complete social shit. However much I wanna talk about union and togetherness, a working class kid from Whitehawk or wherever (I live in Brighton) would still have a go if I was in school uniform. It's a social divide which is synonomous with pre-war social structure. Most other examples of basic social injustice have been eradicated since then. The American education system is the finest example of basic equal oppurtunity. The large majority of 18 year olds have the chance of being considered for a superb university- which is exciting to go to, apart from people within cultures who frown on attending university. It is time to subscribe to common sense and change the structure rather than trying to mould something out of a previous system which has set into being bollocks.
