Johnny Panic : The Rebel
(R*E*P*E*A*T, very imited picture disc vinyl here)
Reviewed by Room 13

The main track on this single, 'The Rebel' from Johnny Panic is a hook laden pop-rock tune at its core with a strong melody and a bouncy beat to pull you in but it’s backed up by satisfyingly heavy guitars so that it doesn’t become too cloying.

‘The Rebel’ is a pleasant enough tune, pretty catchy and summery and full of enthusiastic energy. The B side is a stripped down version of ‘Hurt (I See You Around)’ on which the tune is taken down to the bare essentials to show off the melody, relying on just guitar and voice to carry it through, it’s a nice way to come down from the A side’s poppy high. The single is available as a download but a nice personal touch is to be found on the 7” vinyl picture disc version as they all come individually signed and numbered, albeit in a very limited number of copies.
