On the opening night of Peter Gabriel's 'Back To Front' UK Tour, he and his seasoned band took centre stage at Birmingham LG Arena, which although intended to be a seated event, actually saw devotees rising to their feet (which was how they were to remain) from the very first moment that Peter stepped out in front of them.

Showing their love and deference towards him with vociferous cheers, the audience were then treated to a striking theatrical stage production, which at times, resembled something out of a sci-fi film or even an H.R. Giger painting. Utilising creative visuals, atmospheric lighting, backdrop videos and narrative themes, paired with Gabriel's charismatic showmanship throughout.

As for the music, well, it sounded tremendous – from innovative pop to electro-rock to worldbeat to torch songs, voyaging through a variety of emotions / moods, all peppered with personal, poignant and political lyrics.

Also possessing one of the most distinctive voices in all of popular music – which Peter really does use as an instrument in itself – the 21 track set list saw the classic album, So, being played live in its entirety and in sequential order, along with a selection of songs spanning Gabriel's illustrious and decorated career. Some of the highlights included the ageless and iconic Solsbury Hill, Sledgehammer, Don't Give Up and Big Time.

With fans visibly relishing every single moment, tonight proved just why the former Genesis frontman, Peter Gabriel – who was recently honoured by and inducted into the 'Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame' – is rightly regarded as one of the most revered, influential and respected artists, songwriters, humanitarian activists and musical visionaries in the world. This is a live spectacle not to be missed!
